My Story

For a long time now, I've wanted to put my life story down on the page. It's not easy. The voices whisper, "what will they think?", "who are you to say?". I guess this is my attempt to drown out those nay-sayer voices.

I have a story and it is only mine to tell. Just as you have a story and it is only yours to tell. The stories I post here are glimpses of my life, seen through my lens, my perspective. Others in my family and history have a different remembrance or perspective, and I honor that as well.

I grew up on a farm in Nebraska, surrounded by lush corn fields. I loved living on the farm. So many nooks and crannies to explore. And, I could have a dog. And eventually a horse, too.

My parents divorced when I was six. That event and lots of others shaped how I grew up, what I thought about God, others and myself.

It's my desire to explore the fact that God has woven a silver lining through my story.

Times were not altogether rosy. God has healed much. But, He has healed as I've paused and gone back to look things over closely, and to grieve when necessary. I believe God redeems everything in life. He redeems our lives through Jesus' sacrifice, but He will also redeem each and every experience we've had, for His glory. If we let Him.

Come with me as I tell my story. Come with me as I ponder and explore that silver lining.
